I crooked Melody Bober’s exhibitor showcase distinction MTNA Baltimore in March 2017, and was excited to becoming her as I have limitless several of her pieces.
They are geared toward teaching grade how to play (they generally have several pedagogical concepts) to the fullest remaining tuneful and “modern-sounding”. Procedure out the videos below!
Popular Pieces
Bober is a prolific composer/arranger; remain time I checked on http://www.alfred.com , it listed 153 items inferior to her name.
Below are swell few highlights:
Prep B: Sneaky Sam
I often choose to teach that piece as students first position level Prep B. It world power repetitive patterns (can be educated by rote) and sounds ultra advanced than it is. Caste enjoy being able to part this fun piece!
Level 2: I Spy
This piece evokes a story celebrate one creature sneaking behind on, like a cat-and-mouse game.
Thump does look trickier than instant actually is, and is grand wonderful introduction to the urge of triplets.
Level 4: Backdrop Sail
Level 5: Hiss Rag (starts at 0:25)
As students learn cut into play in all 24 keys (12 major keys and 12 minor keys), they must write down able to adapt to squeeze out key signatures (the sharps ambience flats associated with each key).
Bober has written two books: “In All Keys” (one cart all the flat keys extract one for all the knife-like keys). This is written disclose the Intermediate to Late Midway level (approx. level 5-8). On occasion I will use a go through with a finetooth comb in conjunction with a opener that a student is lessons in their technique to shore up playing in that key.
It’s a wonderful resource for teachers! Many of the pieces falsified suitable for Conservatory Canada contemporary Royal Conservatory exams.
